We started our week with another hot day - after the Daylesford Market, I started on our 3rd bookcase, while Wes watered everywhere, especially close to the house, just in case there should be a fire nearby. I picked a bunch of roses before they wilted outside, and we enjoyed their perfume for a few days. That night the Melbourne Stars played out of their skins to beat the Hobart Hurricanes and take 4th spot on the ladder.
On Monday, after our walk and supermarket shopping, we sat down to review our Wills (an annual event) and decided they were up to date, having been redone last January. We then had a chat about various home improvements that we needed to tackle and took steps to set them in train. We need a new back fence & more blinds on windows; as well our beautiful Black & White Tiffany lamp has collapsed, and we need to settle our Insurance Claim for damage caused by broken water pipes.
After last week with appointments every day, I was delighted that this week, I was due to see Sarah Hunt for remedial massage. She is a wonderful practitioner and has become a friend. I think we both enjoy our time together very much.

Wes has been busy with Zooms again - he spoke twice to Barbara in NZ; joined the Family Tree Maker User Group one night; participated in the Jackson Group fortnightly discussion, and made phone calls to Jenny & Denise here in Daylesford & Helen in Melbourne. As well, Paul Dooley in Toowoomba, advised him that they shared an ancestor, so they have started communicating. He has also watered early each morning, trying to keep as many of our plants alive as he can.
Meanwhile, I've been watching the cricket, as the Australian Women continue their dominance of the Poms to retain the Ashes. The Melbourne Stars lost their Final against the Sydney Thunder, who will be playing the Hobart Hurricanes tonight for the BBL title. My Zooms have been with my aunt, Jeff, my sister, Leanne, and Old Friends. We both enjoyed a catch up with Mike & Linda Kirby and chatted about Christmas, New Year & trips.
Our cars were due for service at Ballarat Mazda, so we headed off there early on Wednesday, only to discover that Pearl was due for her 40,000, which meant they would like to keep her all day. Wes had arranged for us to have a courtesy car; so after we had toasties & hot drinks at Wen & Ware café, we bought fish from Ballarat Seafood, whisky & gin from Dan Murphy's, and collected items for our neighbour, Glen, and drove back home. We were so pleased we had, as I had forgotten to prop open the laundry door with our brass bell, and it had blown shut, leaving Morse with no access to the rest of the home. He forgave us after a while 🤣🤣.
Originally we had hoped to see the film, Conclave, at Palace Regent Cinemas, but the earliest showing was 12.40pm, which meant we would be leaving Morse on his own all day, and he's just not used to that. So we are heading off after the Daylesford Market to the 10am session at Ballarat today.
While I've continued with my sorting out of books in our library, (nearly finished the third bookcase), Wes has spent as much time as he can keeping the garden hydrated and happy. We planted Dutch Cream potato starters back in October, and he has just cut off the plants are they were going yellow. In a week's time, we'll dig into the soil and see if we were successful in growing our favourite spuds.
Meanwhile the Aussie women continued on their winning way against the Poms and easily won their final T20 game last night. The Day/Night Pink Ball Test starts on Thursday at the MCG, and I will be there. The last time the women played a Test at the G, was back in 1949, and it's about time they were given more access to this famous ground. Fingers crossed they attract a good crowd and this can become an annual fixture.
