Daylesford Summer Dispatch - Sunday, 9th December 2018

So much for skiting that I was getting on top of things last Sunday! Four of us had a lovely brunch at Boathouse Daylesford, including Wes, who arrived back from delivering Barbara to Melbourne Airport. We both enjoyed catching up with Jan Pengilley & Janine Hawker. By 1pm I was the one in bed, having caught some sort of unpleasant germ from somewhere & there I stayed until Thursday, when I started to make an appearance again.

Peace roses galore!

Wes gave the lawn a haircut, which enabled the birds to find the seed we had been strewing for them, and started on the weeds, which have enjoyed our absence. The weather got far too hot as the week progressed, and neither of us attempted anything outside.
Apart from visiting Leanne on Thursday morning to help her with a few chores, Wes stayed put. He has Barbara’s house, car & mail to look after while she is away.

Longest word in the world in Anglesey, Wales – translates as: “The Church of Mary in the Hollow of the White Hazel near the Fierce Whirlpool and the Church of St Tysilio by the Red Cave”

Yesterday, our neighbour, Rob, came in with mangoes & an interest in hearing about our trip. We were delighted to see him & spent a very pleasant hour talking about places like the Isle of Arran, Pitlochry & the shows & plays we saw.

This little plaque in Moulin suggests the Queen sat here once!

One of our favourite walks in Pitlochry

The cricket has had us rivetted to the TV. We have been to Adelaide for this Test for the last three years, but the Indian team refused to play a pink ball day/night Test, so we had decided not to go, as Adelaide is just too hot to spend all day at the cricket, even in the shade. The Indians are looking in the box seat, but you never know – a couple of quick wickets this morning & it could all change.

Karen outside the gates of Glamorgan Cricket Ground, Cardiff – a place we would love to return & explore further.

This morning I’m about to go to the Sunday Market & stock up on fruit & vegetables for the next week. We are off to breakfast at Boathouse, where we will be joined by Judi, and David & Sandy. Hopefully everyone will have enjoyed some sleep after a cool night & some rain this morning.
